Applesauce Software v1.0.3 has been released!

A new version of the software is now available. The primary focus of this build was cleaning up bugs in the UI and some functionality improvements.

  • Better power management. Will only turn on power to floppy drive when needed. Will automatically turn off power after being idle for 3 minutes.
  • Added cmd-i shortcut for the Image button on Fast and Flux imagers.
  • Fast Disk Imager no longer saves files info a folder.
  • Flux Imager metadata RAM Requirement now defaults to Unknown.
  • New A2R format has been finalized. Applesauce will still open older A2R files. Bulk format updater coming soon.
  • Flux Imager now correctly obtains write protect status based on actual disk.
  • Fixed typo on MC3470 message box.
  • Calibrate screen now turns off tests when switching to another screen.
  • Metadata Inspector speed improvements. Changed Metadata Inspector shortcut to cmd-m.
  • Disk Editor will enable Save and Save Rendering menu items only after work is completed.
  • Disk Editor will now show bit timings across all reads. The alignment of nibbles still needs some work.
  • Fixed bug where closing main window with unsaved data wasn’t actually closing window.
  • Fixed delay when opening disk images via Finder.
  • Added new Force Firmware Reflash window to recover Applesauce from failed firmware updates.
  • New app icon.
  • Lots of other small fixes and improvements.

Getting Started documentation coming later today.

All of the Applesauce units have shipped out. I’m a bit behind in getting the Applesauce setup documentation posted due to being at KansasFest. I’ll have it up later today. The most important thing to know is that the ribbon cable for the disk drive should point downward. You should also unplug the USB connection from your computer whenever you are attaching or removing any cables.

All Applesauce units are built and tested!

Everything is ready to go! Bandy will be shipping out units over this coming week while I am at KansasFest. Please be patient as it is a ton of work to get everything packed and out the door. Many thanks to everyone that has supported getting us to this point. Anybody that would like to get on the waiting list for the 2nd run, just use the contact form at the link at the top of the page.

Here we go!

If you are on the wait list for the first run of Applesauce, then you should have an email waiting for you. After a couple weeks of delays from the manufacturer, I finally have confirmation that they have shipped the PCBs to me. This was what I was waiting on before I felt comfortable to collect money from folks. There will be a lot of assembly going on around here this coming week. I am expecting to be shipping out units July 13-27.

Well, that was quick…

Wow, all 100 Applesauce units were spoken for within 16 hours! Thanks so much, everyone! There were also enough people that missed the initial 100 unit cutoff that I can guarantee that there will be a second run. I’ll be looking at doing that in August or September.
